How do I save Dateclub on my phone?

In order to make it easy to open Dateclub you should create a browser bookmark of the Dateclub home page. On most phones this will involve opening your phone browser menu and then selecting "save as bookmark" or something similar. To open your phone browser menu press the left phone button, the middle phone button, or on some phones the * or # key.

On Samsungs you first need to sms club2 to 31025 to get a plain text bookmark. Then open the message you receive, press Options > Cut address, select the Dateclub URL and press Options > Bookmarks.

If you cannot create a browser bookmark on your phone then keep the bookmark you were sent when you joined and use this to open Dateclub.

Dateclub costs just R7 per week for unlimited use. You can download as much as you like. Your regular network WAP charges apply.

What are WAP charges?

Your service provider charges you for making a WAP connection with your phone. You are charged for the amount of data you use and not for the amount of time you spend online. The standard charge at the time of writing is R2 / MB (1,024 KB) of data. That means over one million characters of text for R2, or over 5,000 characters of text for only 1 cent. To view or download a picture of 20 KB would cost 4 cents. Please contact your service provider for current WAP charges and to ask about even cheaper data bundles.

What is the Flag link for?

If you see a topic in a public area (such as the Lounge, Confessions, or a Blog) that you feel is inappropriate then you can report it using the flag link. Topics that receive a large number of flags will then be reviewed by us. Please only flag if you honestly feel it is justified and not just because you have a difference of opinion with the topic owner. Misuse of the flag link can result in your access to community areas being restricted.

How to I add pictures and videos to my gallery?

Click Galleries > Add to Gallery and then try the various options. Not all phones support file upload so if you get an error using the file upload option then please try the MMS option. On some phones you can send an MMS directly from Dateclub by clicking the links next to each MMS address. On other phones you will need to close Dateclub and then send the MMS as you normally would. To make this easier you should first save the MMS addresses as contacts in your phone book.

Sony Ericsson file upload problems?

If you have a Sony Ericsson then you should disable your proxy setting in order to use file upload. You will need to edit your internet connection settings and look for the word "proxy". The check box next to this should be unchecked so that proxy becomes greyed out. If there is no check box then you should delete the IP address next to the word proxy. The IP address is a string of 4 numbers separated by full stops, for example 126.25.37.255

How to I add pictures and videos to my gallery using a Samsung?

Create a new phone contact called Dateclub Public. When you create the contact create it as type "phone" (not "sim"). Don't enter a number, look for the space reserved for email and enter the address public@dateclub.co.za. Save this new contact and then send a normal MMS specifying Dateclub Public as the person you are sending the MMS to. Any files you include in the MMS will get added to your gallery. You can follow the same steps for all the other MMS addresses such as profile@dateclub.co.za, buddies@dateclub.co.za and private@dateclub.co.za.

When adding to my gallery what is the difference between public, buddies and private?

Public means that the file can be viewed by anyone. Buddies means that the file can only be viewed by your buddies. Private means that the file can only be viewed by you or by selecting buddies that you choose to send the file to.

Now when you are sending an MMS you can just specify this new contact as the person you are sending to, and it will get sent to your gallery.

I sent an MMS but nothing has been added to my gallery?

After you send the MMS go to Galleries > My Gallery to view the file. If the file is not in your gallery then please check the following:
  • You are sending the MMS from the number you used to register
  • You have used MMS and not email
  • You have sent the MMS to the correct address with no spelling mistakes
  • The MMS has been sent successfully and is not still in your outbox
